Well, my word for this year is "Balance". It's kind of a weird word. But it really fits how I'm thinking about things. I need to balance work and play (or work and rest). We need to live with a balanced budget. ;) Then there's balance between extremes... not living in the past or worrying about the future. I need to be in the center. There's a praise chorus from a few years ago, "Jesus, be the center". I need to have Him be the focal point, the center from which I find my true balance. I haven't yet thought through all the implications of this word, but I'm thinking this is where I need to be.
1. a state of equilibrium or equipose; equal distribution of weight, amount
2. something used to produce equilibrium; counterpoise
3. mental steadiness or emotional stability; habit of calm behavior, judgment
4. a state of bodily equilibrium: He lost his balance and fell down the stairs.
